What do I do?
I help business owners promote and market their business and I do this by offering 1:1 support, courses with support from me, self-study courses and free content.
This policy describes how I protect and make use of the information you give me.
If you are asked to provide information, it will only be used in ways stated in this policy.
This privacy policy was last updated on 23rd May 2018
Why do I collect data from you?
I gather and use certain information about you in order to:
• Be able to reply to your requests for information (eg arrange a call with me, details about my courses and how you can work with me, help when technology doesn’t play ball)
• Give you access to content and courses
• Stay in touch with you when we’re working together
• Enable certain functions on this website to work for you
• Better understand how visitors use this website
• Send you free value-laden content you’ve requested
What information do I collect from you?
I collect the following information:
• name
• email address
• home address
• information you send me with regards to your enquiry about arranging a call with me or questions you ask about working with me
How do I use this data?
This is how I’ll use your data:
So I can send you an invoice, if you’re not paying using PayPal and this also keeps me compliant with HMRC.
To be able to contact you during our time working together, reply to your enquiry, inform you of special offers or new products or services.
To enable you access to content you have purchased that I deliver to you via my website.
To share the love by sending you surprises by snail mail.
How do I use cookies?
A cookie is a small file placed on your computer’s hard drive. It enables my website to identify your computer as you view different pages on my website.
Can you block cookies?
Yes, but it may mess up your experience of the internet.
One way in which I use cookies is for web analytics, specifically:
• Google Analytics
Cookies do not provide me with access to your computer or any information about you other than that which you elect to share with me.
You can use your web browser’s cookie settings to determine how my website uses cookies. If you do not want my website to store cookies on your computer or device, you can amend your settings.
I also have the Facebook Pixel installed. The Facebook Pixel means that we can see how visitors interact with our site and create Facebook adverts to promote my content, products and services.
• To learn more about cookies, visit All About Cookies.
• To read Google’s privacy statement, and how after 25 May you can request that I remove your information from my analytics data, see Google’s data privacy policies and approach and its data processing terms.
Please note that this may affect how my website functions, and some pages may become unavailable to you.
How do I collect your personal data?
I collect and store minimal information via the following forms:
• Contact form (via my website that updates Mailchimp)
• Course sign up (via website)
• Free content sign up (that updates list in Mailchimp)
• Blog comments (via website)
• Email (via talk-talk server)
I will never lease, distribute or sell your information to third parties unless you give me written permission to do so, or I am required to do so by law.
You can ask me to remove your data from MailChimp at any time. Please note that if your information is being held to enable access to content that you’ve purchased from me (e.g. courses/books), the removal of your data will remove your access.
How do I store your personal data?
On this Website
If you register with the site we will store your name and email address. If you buy a course from me I store your name, email address, postal address, phone number if you give it to us, and your purchase history. Your payment details ARE NOT held on the site.
Who has access to your data?
Me and my website guy who will only ever be there to help you get the best service possible.
I don’t mistreat your data. It’s treated with the utmost respect ALWAYS.
I will use your purchase history to target you with ads for products and services I think you will find useful.
If you buy a self-study course, I’ll occasionally get in touch with you to ask you if you want to work with me 1:1 or in a group. If you’ve done one of our courses, we’ll occasionally ask you if you want to do another course.
I use Mailchimp
If you’ve signed up for anything or bought anything on our site – ebook, free course, free video series, paid course, membership etc – your name and email address automatically heads off to Mailchimp, which is the autoresponder I use to manage my emails. I always use the double optin too.
You can unsubscribe from emails at any time by hitting the unsubscribe button.
I can see via Mailchimp what emails you’ve ignored, opened and the links you’ve ignored or clicked on. I will use this to tailor what marketing you receive from me.
Payment
PayPal. This is the password-protected online payment service I use for sales of my courses and 1:1 service. I have no access to bank details.
You can cancel payments at any time but please note this may restrict your access to content.
I can’t cancel your PayPal payments. You need to do that and I need to keep a record of what you’ve paid me. If I don’t the tax man takes a huff.
DATA SERVERS IN THE UNITED STATES
MailChimp’s servers are based in the US but are registered with the EU–US Privacy Shield.
All PayPal transactions are subject to the PayPal Privacy Policy. Your data will used for accounting purposes only and will never be divulged to third parties.
How long do I keep your data for?
Many of my customers and clients work with me more than once, I do not delete data unless they have specifically requested that I do so.
HMRC requires me to keep records for ‘at least 5 years after the 31 January submission deadline of the relevant tax year’.
Please ask if you want me to delete or amend your records. As long as I’m complying with HMRC’s legal requirements, I’ll action your request immediately.
Being Social
I’m an online business so using social media plays a big part in my marketing.
If we connect on one platform, there’s a big chance I’ll pop over to other platforms and follow, like or connect with you there too.
Rather I didn’t? Let me know. I’m not here to upset you.
